During the weekend there will also be children’s activities, guided Titanic walks around the City including the Titanic Graves , a maritime/Titanic memorabilia auction, a maritime outdoor market and individual research opportunities in the City’s Central Library archives. The public Civic Titanic Commemorative Service will be held in Holyrood Church on Sunday the 13 April 2008.

Cameron’s Titanic 10 Years Later

Posted in Potpourri, What's in Voyage ? on October 16, 2007 by titanicinternational

titanic-movie.jpg Dec. 19, 2007, will mark the 10th anniversary of the James Cameron film “Titanic.”

Barb Shuttle, editor of Voyage, the journal of Titanic International Society, is asking for contributions for a retrospective on the movie. … how did the film affect you, and what effect did it have on your love of Titanic? (You do not have to be a member to respond, but of course the invitation to join is always open!)

She’d like to receive enough responses to make this a viable and interesting piece for Voyage. But that will depend on enough people sharing their thoughts. Whether it’s a paragraph or two, or a longer essay, jot down your thoughts and feelings about the movie “Titanic” and its impact and e-mail them to Barb at

Nov. 1 is the deadline for articles for the next issue, so think about this soon!

There was mixed success for the recent Carpathia wreck dive.  Although many artifacts were retrieved for conservation, the plan for extensive photography was not realized due to equipment damage and other factors.  The team set a record for depth of  wreck dive.  Visit the link above for more details of the expedition.
