Belfast considers Titanic’s 100th Anniversary

titanic.jpgDiscord surrounding Belfast’s participation in the planning of Titanic’s 2012 commemorative events is a hot topic among the European event planners.  The home of Titanic’s birth has strong feelings about its own Titanic projects in the works, and how much they will be involved in the broader scope of the European event schedule.  Southampton, Liverpool, Halifax (Nova Scotia) New York, Cherbourg and most recently Cobh, Co Cork, have all signed a “memorandum of understanding” to jointly honor the 1,513 people who lost their lives aboard the vessel”  This should be a story to watch closely.  For the full article visit http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/article2871758.ece

Sinking Ship of Dreams is “Afloat” Again

new.jpgA reprieve has been granted to the popular 15,000 foot”Ship of Dreams” attraction in the Mercado shopping center.  There was great concern and media coverage regarding the removal of valuable exhibit items when the attraction was due to be evicted from its home. 

“. . . owner Mike Harris stressed that none of the attraction’s most valuable items had been touched, only the contents of a storage area that included costumes, storage files and computers. “  The ultimate relocation for the attraction is yet to be announced, but in the meantime, it will reopen on Thursday.  For the complete article visit
