Belfast considers Titanic’s 100th Anniversary

Discord surrounding Belfast’s participation in the planning of Titanic’s 2012 commemorative events is a hot topic among the European event planners. The home of Titanic’s birth has strong feelings about its own Titanic projects in the works, and how much they will be involved in the broader scope of the European event schedule. Southampton, Liverpool, Halifax (Nova Scotia) New York, Cherbourg and most recently Cobh, Co Cork, have all signed a “memorandum of understanding” to jointly honor the 1,513 people who lost their lives aboard the vessel” This should be a story to watch closely.
