Donn- Thanks for your email. Actually the ship on the masthead of this site is not Titanic, but rather the old Mauretania and so smoke coming from the fourth funnel is okay! The stacks are Cunard red-orange with the black banding around them. /Administrator

Enjoying your site, having navigated to it from an online ET article. Like many if not most of those fascinated by the sinking of RMS Titanic and of that watershed time in history, my interest was awakened by reading Walter Lord's "A Night to Remember".
As an 8 year-old boy visiting relatives in Bronxville, N.Y., I vividly remember as the most frightening sight of my life, being driven by the blackened, smoldering liner Normandie, capsized in her berth, the day after the 1942 fire that eventually reduced that once-beautiful liner to scrap. I never forgot that image and many years later, saw for the first time, how she appeared before the fire -from a scale model of Normandie in a ship's library. Since then, I have researched the building and short life of the liner, along with it, captivating history surrounding the fire: The influence of the New York crime syndicate on suspected sabotage and by extension, the US campaign in Sicily during World War II. Thus does the single event of Titanic beckon us to examine life at the turn of the century and place ourselves on deck
during that night to remember, to try to know who we really are in crisis.
By the way, I note in the painting of Titanic on your website (http://titanicinternational.wordpress.com/), smoke coming from the fourth stack. As you know, that stack was non-functional, having been added for aesthetic reasons.
