The key to it all?
Second Officer David Blair, was removed from the crew at the last minute and in his hurry forgot to hand this key to his replacement. According to some experts, this is the key which would have unlocked the compartment for binoculars for the crow’s nest, which according to Fred Fleet, crewman in the crow’s nest at the time of the impact, might have made all the difference.
